Heat the oil in a large heavy based saucepan. Fry the onions for 10 minutes until brown.
Add the chicken and stir to seal for 5 minutes
Add the ginger, garlic, salt and spices. Stir, cover and simmer for 20 minutes on a low/medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Slowly stir in the yoghurt and simmer for a further 10 minutes.
garnish with coriander and serve with plain boiled basmati rice
